Hi Wendi,

Thanks for your kind words that you enjoy our CI Journey blog :)

We are from New Brunswick, Canada and surgery was done in Halifax, Nova Scotia, about a 2 and half hour drive.

Good Luck on your August 20th activation day, will be thinking about you then.

My activation day was only like about a hour and half, arounds there... not very long. Since you have two CI's so I can see it taking it longer than mine. Good Luck!!

Look forward to reading your blog after that day :)

Take Care,
Cheryl

Wendi, Sending the kids to college is hard! It takes time to adjust to them being gone too. You have so much going on in your life right now. Dinner time depression? I think I've had that all my life! Try keeping it simple. Sometimes a simple sandwich is enough for dinner when it's hot. Or anything on the grill works for us since Bill does the grilling. LOL

Don't forget the tissues at activation. My nurse from surgery cried as well as my husband and daughter. Also it is far from boring, it goes so fast. it is unexplainable!!

There are so many different ways doctors seam the incision-stitches, glue, staples, etc. I remember when my oldest daughter had surgery, she had her incision closed up with glue and tape (tape was there for only a few days). She had a diaphragmatic hernia and they fixed it up when she was two days old. She's my miracle. :) She's a healthy kid.

I hope everything comes together for you-the activation (with Paige there), Eric's college move and all. You will be busy for a few days there, running around. I hope it works out that Paige will be at the activation for you.

I don't like to cook much either, especially in summer. Frankly, I just cook because I HAVE to, not because I enjoy it. Isn't that awful? I don't mind dishes, though. I'll do that if someone cooks...lol

My goodness, so many changes in your life all at once! Going deaf, getting implanted, son going off to college, daughter starting high school, awaiting activation--no wonder you don't want to make dinner!

Amanda hasn't seen her doctor at all since her surgery although we've spoken to him on the phone and had a few email exchanges.

There hasn't been a post op visit. We will see him when she's activated IN THREE DAYS but we're rather grateful we didn't need to drive an hour (or three in downtown LA traffic) to have Dr. DiTirro say, "Looking good."

If there was a problem we'd have been there in a heartbeat. Actually she had a bruise on her ear and we took a picture of it with my Sidekick and emailed it to him.

That was the second time we emailed photos of her ear to him. The first was the day after her surgery when we emailed incision photos. He said the only people who sent him photos previously of healing incisions had been plastic surgeons.

Okay, enough about us! Good luck on getting Paige registered. I hope they let you just go ahead and take care of it early. You have extremely extenuating circumstances! If I was in charge of the world, I'd make it happen.

Good luck with the waiting. It's excruciating, no?
